The desired cuts are entered into the CNC machine, which may utilize a variety of tools and processes. For example, a CNC machine may be used for turn machining using a lathe. The lathe is controlled by the computer, rotating the workpiece into a machine tool.

Swiss screw machines are automated machines with a guide bushing and a sliding headstock. The workpiece secures to the headstock and rotates with the spindle. Cutting tools move to trim the shape and diameter to the specifications of the part.

Multiple-spindle screw machines include multiple spindles to rotate several workpieces. These machines are often used for high-volume runs that require greater accuracy.
