Meet the newest contributors to the Federal Group fleet
When it comes to technology, we never stand still at The Federal Group. We are constantly evolving and seeking faster, better, smarter solutions for our clients and partners.
In our commitment to cutting-edge technology, we’ve recently invested in two new machines as well as a new, state-of-the-art investment casting facility to further support the future of metal fabrication. Keep reading to find out what they can do—and what they can do for you.
CNC Press Brake Bending Machine
In manufacturing, press brakes are used to bend sheet metal. The newest addition to our lineup is incredibly large—in fact, you won’t find a bigger press brake than this machine. Using high-tech Computer Numerical Control machining, it can take on huge metal fabrication projects with ease.
At 3,000 tons, this guy can bend up to 16 meters of metal—just under our 40-foot shipment capacity!
High-Speed Swiss Turning Machine
Boasting not only high speeds but high precision and high accuracy, our new Swiss turning machine utilizes CNC machining to produce complex precision parts. In a single setup, it’s able to perform CNC milling, drilling, tapping, compound angle work, turning, boring, and threading. Plus, it’s outfitted with a feeder to further increase efficiency.
Swiss CNC turning machines can handle small parts with tight tolerances and difficult-to-cut materials. They can machine a wide variety of metals including:
- Aluminum: Lightweight and corrosion-resistant, it’s used in the construction industry.
- Brass: Often used to make components for use in plumbing, electrical.
- Bronze: Often used in bearings, bushings, marine applications.
- Copper: Commonly used in electrical and plumbing applications.
- Stainless steel: Often used to make medical and dental equipment as well as in food processing.
- Steel: Typically used in the construction industry.
- Titanium: Impressive strength-to-weight ratio, often used in the medical industry.
A State-of-the-Art Investment Casting Facility
We’ve long provided high-quality investment casting services to create near-net-shape parts for partners in the construction and agriculture industries. With this incredible new facility, we’re able to vastly expand our testing capacity whether we’re working with steel, iron, and non-ferrous alloys.
In addition to providing dimensional tolerances up to 25mm, our new facility allows for increased mechanical testing by including the following:
- Universal testing machine
- Impact testing
- Microstructure examination
- Hardness testing
- Inter-granular corrosion testing
The new space also expands our non-destructive testing capacity. We can now offer dye penetration testing, magnetic particle testing, radiography, ultrasonic testing, and hydro testing.
